WE REJOICE

Sue O’Donnell. 27.12.20

Does the colour of the December morning sky

Remind you that our Lord is nigh?

Look at the dawning hint.

No longer black, not yet blue, but pink and purple,

Not all over, you will discover when looking,

But in an eye catching striped effect.

Does this connect your thoughts with Jesus,

Just recently born that First Christmas morn,

So holy love is now manifest recognisably

In the birth of a new born Baby, who

Could, would meaningfully speak to us.

That is why Christ Jesus is called ‘The Word’.

“The Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” (John 1 v 14)

As the Light, sin would no longer extinguish,

For the cradle and the †of forgiveness

Are inextricably linked by the birth, life and death

Of the Lord Jesus, the Christ Child born to Mary,

Come into the world as Saviour, the Divine Healer.

Surely that is why the dawning light,

Dispersing dark clouds and shades of night,

Is symbolic of the Lord Jesus born now to us,

The Child born to Mary being God’s Son, the beloved One.

The photo I took on Christmas Day

Showed forth a most splendid sky following dawn.

Love paints in spectacular warmth of colour.

Even nature this holy day,

Offered praise to the Baby laid on hay,

As He comes to be our forever Saviour.

Perhaps each time nature gifts us a pink or purple sky,

We could remember to offer our praise too.

The Christ Child now born to us, the Creator of nature,

Is able to re-create us by sharing His holiness.

This Christmas, as a season, carries a profound meaning,

In newly found hope, peace and joy.

The glory of the sky in purple and pink does make me think.

What does this beauty do for you?

Can you see God’s love coming through His Son,

The One we are to depend upon,

Plus the widespread, often breathtaking beauty of nature?

Christ Jesus, born into a world of sin, shame and sorrow,

Is not a shadow of our Father’s love and mercy.

He is the exact representation of His likeness.

Should we not bow and worship before this,

Praying, praising, saying ‘All glory to the Sender,

All glory in the splendour of holy love come from above’,

Visible in a sky of amazing beauty.

Let all the earth rejoice in this royal Baby,

Lifting eyes, hearts, minds, upwards, heavenwards.

The season of peace and joy is upon us.

All thanks to our Father sending the Lord Jesus

In a Holy Spirit influenced, miraculous delivery.

Truly we rejoice at the Nativity and sky beauty.

Lord, on Christmas Day two or three years ago the sky was stunning, so I took some photos. Yesterday I came across a glorious sky picture which says “And the heavens shall praise Thy wonders, O Lord.” (Psalm 89 v 5)

How timely, as we receive Your Son, the gift of salvation. The heavens should indeed praise their Creator, reminding us of Your glory and mercy of love. Thank You for the beauty. Thank You even more

for the birth of Christ Jesus. Amen.
